Wow, 2022 seems to have flown by! And what a year it’s been.
The country has seen 3 prime ministers, 2 monarchs, a record-breaking heat wave and plummeting winter temperatures! Much of 2022 has tested our resilience and many of us are experiencing some very tough times. However, we try to look at the positives and, believe it or not, 2022 has seen a few!
The England Lionesses won the women’s Euros in style, Birmingham hosted a fantastic Commonwealth-games and the UK almost won Eurovision! Across the country we celebrated 50 years of Pride, and not forgetting the longest queue England has ever seen! RIP Queen Elizabeth.
Here at Ayres Health, we are soon to be celebrating our 5 year anniversary!
Little did we know what our fledgling business would have to cope with, yet we have made it through some tough times and it’s mostly thanks to our loyal patients who have supported us throughout. We are very grateful!
Away from work we have enjoyed UK travels in our little campervan. We explored Kintyre and surrounding areas and were lucky to have wonderful weather which is unusual for Scotland!
Andrew has taken up Paragliding and spends many a weekend flying around hills in the Peak District. Anna prefers to keep her feet firmly on the ground!
We also took the van to a couple of music festivals in the summer as we both love live music.
Podiatry wise we attended 2 conferences to update our knowledge and professional skills which is compulsory for podiatrists. Anna found herself busy with cosmetic podiatry treatments throughout the summer and Andrew hosted several students in the clinic, introducing them to the world of Podiatry.
Our biggest clinic upgrade this year was our new Sidas machine. This machine enables orthotics (bespoke insoles) to be produced in clinic on the day of the appointment and has hugely reduced orthotic waiting times. Previously we would take a cast of the foot and send this off to an orthotic lab which often took several weeks.
We also introduced a new ‘5 minute fungal test’ which enables us to find out whether there is fungal infection in a toenail, rather than just using visual observation which can be inaccurate.
For December we trialled ‘Bare Kind Socks’ as we love their business ethos.
These bamboo socks have animals on them and for every pair purchased, a donation is made to a charity supporting the animals on the sock. They have been very popular!
Well that’s about it for now. Thank you so much for supporting our business through 2022. As a husband-and-wife team we are completely committed to ensuring the business survives and thrives so we can help many more people with their foot pain for years to come! We wish you all a very happy Christmas and New year.
